Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) treats pains and illnesses with the help of plant components, minerals and animal products. It is an experience-based medicine. This means that the effectiveness of the drugs can often not be determined by scientific methods. Traditional Chinese Medicine includes further methods such as acupuncture.


The main difference between western conventional medicine and Traditional Chinese Medicine is this: Western medicine is concerned with the measurable somatic changes to individual organs and the treatment of individual symptoms. (Technocratic medicine)


Traditional Chinese Medicine considers the whole patient, including the psycho-social surroundings, and tries to heal accordingly. For this reason, Traditional Chinese Medicine places great value on discovering the patient’s well-being. ( = used to be family doctors )


Traditional Chinese Medicine does not compete with conventional medicine. Instead, it is an ideal addition. It is more concerned with the psychosomatic illnesses, in particular civilization illnesses such as premenstrual syndrome (PMS), psycho-vegetative dis-regulation and chronic pain.
